LQ in LA: Where to Eat, Stay & Play

Posted:

Los Angeles is one of our favorite places to work and play. Here are some spots

to do a little bit of both...and hopefully one more than the other.

Stay:

The Roosevelt Hotel

This hotel is worth the stay for its pool alone, but even aside from the fabulous

cabana area- the design, food and service are impeccable too. Plenty of different

areas within this hotel to hang out in, when looking for a different vibe.

Chateau Marmot

There are few places dreamier than Chateau Marmot. Known for star sightings,

there is a special mystique about the castle that makes you feel like you're on a

movie set. A Hollywood classic thats definitely worth the stay. Great bar -

awesome vibe all around.

Eat:

Mauro's Cafe at Fred Segal

With an outdoor patio that's colorful and quaint, this cafe has the best smoothies

and juices to start the day. The Minty Hawaiian is a favorite as well as the Malibu.

Their pasta dishes are incredible and if you want to blow a serious amount of cash

on clothes or accessories...it's a pretty good one stop shopping deal.

Kings Road Cafe

For a more indulgent brunch, Kings Road is the best spot to grab chili poached

eggs and a house roasted cup of coffee.

Joans on Third

An awesome lunch spot with fresh sandwiches, iced coffee and delicious baked

goods. Plus a great outdoor seating to catch some sun with your lunch.

Son of a Gun

To satisfy your seafood cravings, this low-lit, cozy spot is the perfect place. We still

have cravings for their linguine with clam sauce. We've tried to recreate this dish at

home numerous times and have failed miserably. There's some secret ingredients

in that sauce...and it's unlike any other clam sauce we're ever tasted. We highly

recommend this dish, but hear this!!! Get a few of them at once!!!  The portions

are way too small to share - even with your closest friends.

Shop:

West 3rd Street

Between Beverly and Fairfax is a perfectly walkable area with some of our favorite

restaurants and shops. There's a little bit of everything.

Milk Boutique

Milk's style is the epitome of California cool. A perfectly curated mix of small, local

designers shelling out quality classics and established favorites.

American Rag

Another mainstay in California culture, American Rag has a vast collection of everyday

cool, casual wear- to take you from the beach to the show.

The Bead Boutique

An easy place to get lost in, filled with beads and simple, well-priced jewelry. A sweet

shop definitely worth stopping into and the owner is super cool.

Also, definitely check out the El Ray Theatre to see what live shows are playing. We

caught an awesome concert last time we were in town. It was great to see a show

without a million cell phones recording the entire event while it was going on.  The

crowd was in the here and now...and it made for a more enjoyable event.
